Amanda Peet is reflecting on her previous comments about Botox.
On a recent episode of the Q with Tom Power podcast, the actress, 54, reflected on a 2016 essay she wrote for Lenny Letter, a now-defunct newsletter created by Lena Dunham and Jennifer Konner.
“I haven’t had any work done yet on my face, not that I need to explain that because it’s really evident," she told host Tom Power. The Your Friends & Neighbors star went on to admit that cosmetic work is "something that I'm contemplating."
"I think about it," she continued. "And then I have a lot of friends who do it and a lot of friends who don’t do it, and it’s very much wrapped up in my identity."
"Like, who am I if I get a facelift and who am I if I don’t get a facelift? And why does it matter? And does it matter?" Peet mused.
When Power mentioned the Lenny Letter op-ed, Peet confessed: "I wish I hadn’t f---ing written it, because now I can’t cross the Rubicon because I said I wasn’t going to. So now I feel like I boxed myself in."

Reflecting further on the essay, Peet said, "It was about my fear of doing things to my face that were more than superficial. In a way, it feels to me, like, if you do it, then are you not — is that tantamount to not having acceptance about death?”
“And if I’m trying to push it away, if I’m trying to deny it, that scares me in almost like a superstitious way," she added.

“I’ve never gotten Botox or fillers," said the then-44-year-old star. "I’ve never done anything to my face that’s ‘invasive.’ "
“I think it has a lot to do with having two girls,” she explained of her decision. “Maybe I’m afraid. I’m afraid it’s like I’ve never done cocaine either!”
In her Lenny Letter essay that was published the same year, Peet said that while she hasn't tried injectables, she's done other beauty treatments.
“I’ve bleached my teeth, dyed my hair, peeled and lasered my face, and tried a slew of age-defying creams," she said.

The actress also opened up about the competition she felt with younger actresses in Hollywood.
“Recently, I was told I was ineligible for a movie because I wasn’t “current” enough. I’m constantly pushed out by younger talent, like Alicia Vikander,” she wrote. “She’s in the hot center and I’m on the remote perimeter.”
However, Peet argued that aging should be accepted. “Since we’re all going to get wrinkly and die, maybe we’ve got to move in the direction of acceptance about that,” she writes. “Botox or no Botox, we shouldn’t feel bitter, because we’re ALL going to look like s—. Every last one of us. Even Alicia Vikander. (Sorry, Alicia.)”
