Dan Levy is opening up about the "collective loss" we're all experiencing following the death of his Schitt's Creek costar Catherine O'Hara.

Levy, who also co-created the hit Canadian sitcom, was on The Tonight Show to promote his Schitt's Creek follow up, Netflix's upcoming Big Mistakes, but he took the time to reflect on the recent death of O'Hara.

"It’s a collective loss," he told Jimmy Fallon. "She was the greatest. She’s irreplaceable. I think the great comfort for me has just been to see how loved she was. The outpouring, everyone felt like they kind of knew her.”

O'Hara died on Jan. 30 at the age of 71 following a brief illness. Her death certificate cited the main cause as pulmonary embolism and rectal cancer as an underlying cause.

Known for her roles in Beetlejuice, Home Alone, and the films of Christopher Guest, O'Hara found a career resurgence through playing Moira Rose on Schitt's Creek, reuniting her with her longtime comedic collaborator, Eugene Levy, who co-created the series with his son Dan. O'Hara won an Emmy for her hilarious portrayal of the Rose matriarch and her struggles to adjust to the family's new, modest lifestyle.

"What a gift to have gotten to dance in the warm glow of Catherine O’Hara’s brilliance for all those years," Levy said at the time of her passing. "Having spent over fifty years collaborating with my Dad, Catherine was extended family before she ever played my family. It’s hard to imagine a world without her in it. I will cherish every funny memory I was fortunate enough to make with her."

Shortly after her death, O'Hara posthumously won the Actor Award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for her turn on Apple TV's The Studio.

In their Tonight Show conversation, Fallon called O'Hara "One of the funniest comedians I've ever seen." Levy then added, "One of the great, great, great queens."
