Just over two years after she first publicly shared her diagnosis with stage 1 triple-positive breast cancer, the 51-year-old actress celebrated “finally” having enough hair to style into a bob by showing off her new ‘do with a selfie and another photo of her friend and hairstylist, Christi Cagle, holding up a few wigs.

“Thank you to my hair fairy @christikaycagle,” Fischer wrote in the caption of the Jan. 11 Instagram post. “She has been with me every step of the way on this journey. She helped me get wigs, built me 4 custom hats with hair, gave me my first pixie, designed tiny clip in extensions to help fill in the gaps for a photoshoot, helped me figure out how to deal with an all new texture (my hair grew back thicker and more coarse after chemo) and now here we are!”

The Office alum also detailed her hair growth journey for the fellow “ladies” going through a similar journey.

“I would google things like this all during chemo: When will my hair grow back? When will I have hair that looks intentional again?” she wrote. “The whole thing was an exercise in patience and surrender.”

One month after going through chemo, Fischer noted that she began to grow back “little bits of stubble” on the top of her head. The following month, she regrew her eyebrows and eyelashes. By month three, her hair had grown long enough to be considered a pixie cut, and from there, her hair continued to go through “various stages of insanity as it grew out.”

Back in April, Fischer shared a selfie showing off her curly brown hair and, as she put it, her “messy uncontrollably curly post-chemo bangs.”

“They are giving me ‘80s vibes all day and I’m here for it,” she wrote in the caption of the April 15 Instagram post. “Postive comments only because it’s what they deserve. They are the best.”

Beyond her hair journey, Fischer’s latest update comes just over a month after she marked two years since receiving her cancer diagnosis. And while sharing a photo of herself from a hotel room while in St. Louis for Thanksgiving, she reflected on how far she’s come.

“One year later. Same hotel. Longer hair,” Fischer captioned the Dec. 1 Instagram post. “It was exactly 2 years ago in December 2023 that I got the news I had breast cancer. All of my diagnosis and treatment dates are burned into my brain. These ‘anniversaries’ inspire reflection. I try to take a moment and sit with all that has happened.”

“I’m thankful for so many things…health, family, our crazy pets that make us laugh,” she continued. “I’m also very grateful for working. While 2024 was all about cancer treatments, 2025 has been a creative adventure.”

Most of all, Fischer emphasized that she was thankful for being cancer free and sent her love to “anyone battling a health issue right now.”

“To everyone else, please don’t skip your mammograms, colonoscopies and skin checks,” she added.
